Our mission is to help the Tibetan people survive and prosper in their new home and to preserve their profoundly unique culture. We generate an atmosphere of harmony and cooperation within the communities by tending to the needs of those deprived of educational and health facilities.

"Lha" is a sacred Tibetan word that means fully awakened. It alludes to the fundamental nature of goodness. It signifies the enlightened state manifesting as a benevolent divine figure guiding beings toward enlightenment.
ABOUT LHA
Lha Charitable Trust is an award-winning grassroots organization and one of Dharamshala, India's largest Tibetan social work institutes.
Lha plays a crucial role in facilitating the transition of Tibetan refugees from their homeland to the Indian community by providing long-term rehabilitation and educational resources. Its programs and projects are tailored yearly to meet the region's changing needs.
In addition to supporting Tibetan refugees, Lha also benefits the local Indian population and Himalayan communities by offering language and IT classes, vocational training, health and environmental education, and cultural exchange programs. Lha's services aim to preserve Tibetan culture while enabling refugees to thrive in a new environment.
Since its founding in 1997 and official registration in 2005, Lha has continuously provided vital resources to people in need for over 25 years.
Its financial accounts are audited annually, ensuring transparency and accountability.
The organization's early programs focused on teaching English to newly arrived Tibetan adults and supporting elderly refugees. Over the years, Lha has expanded its services to include housing, healthcare, education, and vocational training for displaced Tibetans.
Today, it operates from Ahimsa House, a sustainable building that houses a soup kitchen that provides 60–70 healthy meals daily, classrooms, a café, and guest quarters.
Under the leadership of its Tibetan team and board, Lha has become wholly owned and operated by the Tibetan community, empowering refugees to take charge of their futures while sharing Tibetan wisdom and culture with the world.
